Life’s a journey. It’s good to plan your journey and know what to expect at the end of this journey. If I am prepared, I am sure I will make it to the end of the road…..
I really don’t want to be told then that…..”I never knew you “. It’s a scary thought. Frightening enough to make me really think hard about my values & focus in life. Not in a perfunctory way. And thinking alone is useless. I need to walk the walk.
” Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’ ” Matthew 7: 21-23
The thing about this journey of ours is that we have had ample instructions, directions and warning. I believe its a long and narrow path, quite like the trails I like to run in…..
Christ has told us in Mark 10:25 (also in Matthew 19:16-30): “It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God”
I realised that the door is indeed narrow. And I do not want it shut in my face.
“Strive to enter through the narrow door. For many, I tell you, will seek to enter and will not be able. When once the master of the house has risen and shut the door, and you begin to stand outside and to knock at the door, saying, ‘Lord, open to us,’ then he will answer you, ‘I do not know where you come from.’ Then you will begin to say, ‘We ate and drank in your presence, and you taught in our streets.’ But he will say, ‘I tell you,I do not know where you come from. Depart from me, all you workers of evil!’ Luke 13:22-27
